2024 to Present:  Western Region Lieutenant, Carilion Clinic Police Department, Virginia

• Supervise Police Officers and Security Staff at New River Valley Medical Center, Carilion Giles Community Hospital, and Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital

• Created a monthly program for internal, in person officer training without generating additional overtime costs

• 2016 – Taskforce Officer on the US Marshal’s Fugitive Taskforce

• August 2017 to May 2024 – Began supervising narcotics unit and US Marshal’s Taskforce member

• March 2021 – Led a multiagency effort to remove anti-pipeline protestors from tree sits in the Elliston, VA area

2011 to 2016: Lieutenant of Investigations, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia

• Supervised eight investigators in the division, coordinate information with the patrol division, supply documentation to the accreditation manager

• July 2012 to Jan 2013 / Feb 2016 to March 2016 – Acting Division Head CID – Created a solid relationship between the Patrol and Investigations division

• March 2014 to 2016 – Coordinator Metzler/Childs Homicide Taskforce

• 2006 to 2024 – Evidence Technician: Updated evidence room inventorying and evidence disposal processes

• 2008 – Attended “Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents” and “Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings” training, New Mexico Tech

• 2008 to 2014 - Improved information sharing between Investigations and Patrol by attending shift role call and using a running PowerPoint presentation displaying stolen property, people, and vehicles of interest in the Field Room

2001 to 2022: Tactical Team Member, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia

• 2005 to 2007 – Entry Team Leader: Led elements of the tactical team on numerous missions including the man hunt for the killer of a fellow deputy

• 2007 to 2009 / 2016 to 2022 – Tactical Team Commander: Led the tactical team during the Virginia Tech Active Shooter incident, implemented tactics designed to mitigate legal and physical risk factors and received buy in from team members on new risk mitigation tactics

• 2010 to 2012 - Element Leader: Designed and implemented monthly training including training with other agencies

 

2001 to 2024: Firearms Instructor, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia

• 2005 to 2009 – Supervisor of New Range Construction: Coordinated building projects between the four member agencies, managed purchasing and budgeting of $48,000 annually for construction projects, and made presentations to the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors on the project

• 2006 to 2009 – Lead Firearms Instructor: Wrote new policy regarding training and employment of patrol rifles, managed purchasing and budgeting of $20,000 annually for the purchase of firearms training related materials, improved documentation of biannual firearms training through the use of the “Range Report” which documents problems encountered and improvements to be made to future training

 

1999 to 2004: Patrol Deputy, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia

• 2001 to Present – Certified ASP Impact Weapon Instructor

• 2003 – Homeland Defense Team Member: Assess sites throughout the county for terrorist vulnerability, develop and train deputies on contingency plans for possible attacks, compiled both digital and paper files for each site for use during an incident
